Douglas DC-3

Douglas DC-3 – (c) HarveyG Photography

Shot at the South African National Museum of Military History (14/11/2010)

There is a lot of clutter around this aircraft, so in order to not get buildings and other displays crowding the shot I chose to shoot from below into the sky. The clouds were perfect to add a little drama and interest.

This aircraft Delivered to the USAAF on 11 January 1945 as 43-49838 and now SAAF 6850

Freedom (Road Trip)

Freedom (Road Trip) (c) HarveyG Photography

I noticed this image appear in the mirror driving home yesterday and conjured up this concept of a road trip with no-one else in sight.  Stopped the car in the rain, grabbed the D90 and bolted across the road to get a few shots. I waited until only one car was visible coming over the rise to get that feeling of independence and freedom that the open road is renowned for.

Unaltered photo, no Photo Shop post processing except USM (UnSharpMask)

Photo 101: As a photographer you should ALWAYS look behind you, especially when shooting.

Took this shot indoors. Manual Exposure, Manual Sunpak GX8R Ring Flash, busy subject :) A baby African Bull Frog who was trapped in my courtyard so I offered him his freedom in exchange for a quick studio shoot :) It’s weird but normal doesn’t get attention much anymore they say…
