Dumb Blind Luck

I’ve had these moments where, like lately, I’ve been a bit dry in the inspiration dept. I stumbled upon this article by NG photojournalist Jim Richardson and had to laugh at his take on the subject.  His prose is excellent and his photo a treat when you see it… Honesty is, as always, the best policy.

Jim Richardson

Just dumb blind luck!

Which I will never, ever turn down. And I will always thanks the gods of fortune for shining their light on me for just a moment. And I will never, ever get over the feeling of just how wonderful it is when this happens, when the world presents you with a moment of splendid reality, when the serendipity of life just seems so deliciously improbable and yet so absolutely right.
Well, there it is. I didn’t deserve it but I got it. That’s my confession.

Awe-inspiring when someone writes words like these…
“…And I will never, ever get over the feeling of just how wonderful it is when this happens, when the world presents you with a moment of splendid reality, when the serendipity of life just seems so deliciously improbable and yet so absolutely right.”
Isn’t THAT exactly how one should view opportunities/life/the world and appreciate the moments they present… almost thankfully child-like, ja? I think we lose our ‘through the eyes of a child’-vision much too soon – and with it the wonder and amazement of even the small things. That’s what makes a great photographer – one who hasn’t lost that vision and who’s pretty much able to give us who have, a sweet reminder of how we used to look and marvel at the world.
For some reason :???: your photos won’t display on my screen? Prob. restriction/access to flickr.com??
Will see what I can do…
Am able however to appreciate your ingenious “Down Under” Ad! Great stuff!!

Hi BB, thx for the comments. Honesty is the best policy they say. As far as Flickr is concerned, your browser or Security Suite (Norton, AVG, Kaspersky etc) might be blocking images pulled from a different server than the one you are viewing in your browser. You will have to play with their settings I’m afraid.

Thanks Harves! But my Grandma used to tell me more often than I care to remember: “don’t play with things that ain’t broke… yet.” – dié dat ek ook nie met seuntjies mag gespeel het voor ek mondig was nie
I’ve got a list as long as my arm of things I’m not allowed to attempt/touch or play with !!

There are however quite a few photos I am able to see… i.e. the SH Rose… and all those under portfolio/photo-comps.
